Phase 1

Brief

Participants will successfully write, test, and refine at least 5 business-focused prompts across different productivity categories, demonstrating a clear understanding of prompt structure, context-setting, and output formatting.

  • Focus area: Prompting
  • Difficulty: Rookie

Phase 2

Learn

Use the 5 attached resources before building.

  • No setup blockers listed.
  • Use your own prompt strategy if no starter prompt is listed.

Phase 3

Build

Step 1 - LEARN THE FORMULA (5 min): Open the 'Prompting Techniques Handbook' in the Lab Materials section below. Study the basic prompt structure: [Role] + [Task] + [Context] + [Format]. Example: 'You are a professional email writer. Write a follow-up email to a client who missed our meeting. Keep it polite and under 100 words. Use a formal tone.'

  • Step 2 - PICK YOUR 5 CATEGORIES (5 min): Choose 5 from this list to build prompts for: (A) Email Writing, (B) Meeting Agenda Creation, (C) Task Prioritization, (D) Report Summarization, (E) Customer Response, (F) Social Media Post, (G) Job Description Writing.
  • Step 3 - DRAFT YOUR PROMPTS (15 min): For each of your 5 chosen categories, write one prompt using the formula from Step 1. Write them in a document before testing. Make sure each prompt includes a role, a clear task, relevant context, and a desired output format.
  • Step 4 - TEST & CAPTURE (15 min): Paste each prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, or any AI tool of your choice. Run all 5 prompts and copy both the prompt AND the AI's response into your submission document.

Phase 4

Submit

Submit a single document (PDF, Google Doc link, or Word file) containing: (1) Your 5 original prompts clearly labeled by category, (2) The AI-generated output for each prompt copied directly below its corresponding prompt, (3) A 'Prompt Debrief' section with a brief reflection on at least 2 of your prompts noting what worked and what you would improve. Submissions missing any of these three components will be returned for revision.
